If you ever played Papyrus’ seminal Grand Prix Legends then you’ve read his name. Rich began working as a tester on NASCAR Racing (1994) and was with Papyrus at the end. In this interview, published in 2022, we discuss his time at the legendary studio and the design of Grand Prix Legends, including initial feelings of hurt at not being asked to join iRacing.
Beaten most likely only by the skill of rookie Nigel Mansell in his Lola in 1993, the Penske PC-22 was a radical departure in design philosophy for Penske, leading to the PC-23 that dominated in 1994.
It won the 1993 Indy 500 and with eight total wins helped Fittipaldi and Tracy secure second and third in the drivers championship.
