Video game development is full of names that have made groundbreaking steps you’ve never even heard about. Shawn Nash is a behind-the-scenes pioneer responsible for SODA Off Road Racing’s incredible physics, Papyrus’ graphical advancements and iRacing’s use of laser scan data for the physical track surfaces.

This interview with RSC, published in 2021, details his early life and career, through both his own company, Papyrus, Electronic Arts, to his time at iRacing.

Asobo, known today as the Microsoft Flight Simulator developer, created groundbreaking technology for large scale maps that was intended to be used in a high quality rally raid title. It was never released and ended up as FUEL, a post-apocalyptic open-world racing game. What happened?

Studio 397 have released an update for rFactor 2’s GT3 cars that includes balance of power tweaks and a number of physics improvements to these cars such as adding the new tire technology as well as adding Tender Springs, Shift Protection, new ABS and Traction Control logic and makes them compatible with the new rFactor 2 sound engine.

In addition to the GT3 update, we have also released a small update to the Electric Docks circuit, details of which can be seen below:

They did note that the following issues are still to be updated:

– Radical is still a work in progress and slower than other cars due to work on new tyres. Further work will be done in the next two weeks to improve its performance.
– Mercedes has been heavily reworked, and we will review it over the next two weeks to ensure it is competitive.
– Some GT3 cars presently vibrate when in the garage, we are reviewing a fix for this in time for the release in two weeks.
– We intend to improve the default setups for the next release.
