If you ever played Papyrus’ seminal Grand Prix Legends then you’ve read his name. Rich began working as a tester on NASCAR Racing (1994) and was with Papyrus at the end. In this interview, published in 2022, we discuss his time at the legendary studio and the design of Grand Prix Legends, including initial feelings of hurt at not being asked to join iRacing.

Shortly after the release of Grand Prix Legends the sim racing community looked forward to another title that promised to offer a similar insight into historic racing. Trans-Am Racing ’68-’72 ultimately never released, a victim of a publishers shady dealings, but as a part of my research I uncovered a VHS of a never-released trailer for the game. Watch the trailer and read about what sim racing missed out on.

Codemasters have today announced that the Algarve, Portimao circuit will release for F1 22 tomorrow, with Shanghai following in an update next month. While it is good to see more content in the software it is obviously a 2020-2021 track in a 2022 title, meanwhile Shanghai hasn’t been used by F1 since pre-Covid times.

Watch a video of a lap in F1 22 below the screenshots.

China Confirmed as Additional Free Circuit Update Coming September 12, 2022

Redwood City, Calif. – August 1, 2022 – Codemasters® and Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA)
today confirmed that the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, better known as Portimao, will be
added on August 2 to EA SPORTS™ F1® 22 as a free circuit update for all players*. Players will also
receive China’s Shanghai International Circuit on September 12**. Players can re-live the historic
track through F1® 22 footage captured using back-to-back FORMULA 1 GRANDE PRÉMIO DE
PORTUGAL winner Lewis Hamilton in this year’s W13 car Here.

“We know our players love the thrill of competing on more circuits, and they don’t get much better
than Portimao,” said Lee Mather, F1® Senior Creative Director at Codemasters. “Portimao is highly
revered with a proud history, and our players will love the challenge of taking the 2022-designed cars
onto the hallowed circuit for the first time.”

Portimao returned to the Formula 1® calendar for the 2020 and 2021 seasons as part of the revised
