Video game development is rarely about one man, but if it was, then Terence Groening should certainly get a mention for his contributions to the genre as the man responsible for the physics of Sportscar GT, EA’s PC F1 and NASCAR games of the early 2000’s, rFactor, rFactor 2 and every title and rFpro simulator that spawned from ISI’s engine.
This interview with RSC details his early life and career, through to him joining iRacing in 2021.
If you ever played Papyrus’ seminal Grand Prix Legends then you’ve read his name. Rich began working as a tester on NASCAR Racing (1994) and was with Papyrus at the end. In this interview, published in 2022, we discuss his time at the legendary studio and the design of Grand Prix Legends, including initial feelings of hurt at not being asked to join iRacing.
iRacing staffer Greg West posted in the forum this evening that iRacing are raising prices for Steam users by $1.00 per item. This is to compensate for the fact that iRacing/Steam paid the taxes on content items via that platform while items purchased directly from iRacing saw it added on checkout.
They say that adding $1 brings the total amount paid to an almost identical amount. Steam users looking to save should attempt to buy all the content they want before it goes into effect on July 13, 2023.

Currently, The list price for cars and tracks are the same for both iRacing customers and Steam customers. However, the End-User Taxes are built into the Steam Pricing, while direct iRacing purchases add the End-User Taxes to the price during purchase. Therefore some direct iRacing customers may have been paying more than some Steam customers. As such, we are increasing Steam pricing by $1.00 for each piece of content to bring the content pricing closer to identical for all customers.
This update will be in effect with an iRacing Patch release scheduled for July 13th, 2023.
