In this interview, published in 2022, we discuss his time at the legendary studio and the design of Grand Prix Legends, including initial feelings of hurt at not being asked to join iRacing.

Asobo, known today as the Microsoft Flight Simulator developer, created groundbreaking technology for large scale maps that was intended to be used in a high quality rally raid title. It was never released and ended up as FUEL, a post-apocalyptic open-world racing game. What happened?

iRacing today announced that their 2021 Season 2 build had another update, this time a hotfix for their previous changes.

Here is the full changelog:

iRACING UI:

General

– Improvements have been made to the iRacing UI window behavior.

– – This should improve the behaviors for resizing, maximizing, un-maximizing, and remembering the window positions. This also fixes an issue where the mouse position could appear slightly offset from the actual window.

SIMULATION:

Race Control

– Fixed an issue with the early release of missed-start vehicles in multi-class sessions when a pack of vehicles was more than 20 seconds behind the leading pack.

Hybrid Vehicles

– Fixed a crash-to-desktop issue that could occur when a hybrid vehicle attempted to transition from a Practice Session to a Race Session.

Audio

– Ambient crowd audio should now be less repetitive.

– – Everyone has found new topics to discuss!

Controls

– Logitech TrueForce support has been temporarily disabled by default.

– – The latest G-HUB version (2021.2.7359) has a bug that causes a lockup at Sim shutdown. This feature will be re-enabled when the issue is resolved. You may need to re-calibrate your racing wheel.

Telemetry

– New live telemetry values, “SessionTimeTotal”, “SessionLapsTotal”, “PlayerCarClass”, and “CarIdxClass” have been added.

– – These values offer a more convenient way to access data which is already in the session string.

CARS:

Audi RS 3 LMS

– iRacing setups have been updated.

BMW M4 GT4

– iRacing setups have been updated.

Dirt Late Model

– (ALL) – Tire construction parameters have been updated.

– (Super Dirt Late Model) – An Engine Restriction setup option has been added in the garage.

– (ALL) – iRacing setups have been updated.

Dirt Street Stock

– Tire model has been updated with a stiffer construction based on the Dirt Big Block Modified. Tire tread pattern has also been adjusted.

– iRacing setups have been updated.

Indy Pro 2000 PM-18

– For the New Damage Model, suspension durability has been increased.

McLaren 570s GT4

– Rear spring perch offset range has been reduced.

NASCAR Cup Series Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

– The display of the driver name on the front windshield has been removed.

NASCAR Cup Series Ford Mustang

– The display of the driver name on the front windshield has been removed.

NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Camry

– The display of the driver name on the front windshield has been removed.

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR

– Rear ride height limits have been reduced from 104mm to 100mm.

USF 2000

– For the New Damage Model, suspension durability has been increased.
