Shortly after the release of Grand Prix Legends the sim racing community looked forward to another title that promised to offer a similar insight into historic racing. Trans-Am Racing ’68-’72 ultimately never released, a victim of a publishers shady dealings, but as a part of my research I uncovered a VHS of a never-released trailer for the game. Watch the trailer and read about what sim racing missed out on.
Better known today as the developer of Skyrim and Fallout, Bethesda once had a well-respected racing game franchise and were deep into development of a licensed Skip Barber Racing title that never released.
Ian Bell, CEO of Straight4 Studios, has again posted some work-in-progress images of the software on his Twitter profile, this time again featuring Group C cars at what appears to be Interlagos. Cars featured appear to be the Jaguar XJR-9 and Nissan R89C FIA Group C cars we’d seen previously along with a Porsche 962C.
The screenshots are clearly labeled as “WIP”, but if I were to put my critiquing hat on I have to say I’d be very satisfied with the overall look and lighting. In fact nothing leaps out at me as bugged or missing other than perhaps the car headlights, which in pre-alpha isn’t a lot…
