rFactor 2 Hotfix Released For Blank Startup Screen

Fingers crossed for Studio 397 on this one, because I was personally reporting blank startup screens to both ISI and S397 for about 15 years and answered easily more than a thousand support emails with fixes. I no longer work there, but if they fixed it in last week’s update? Hurrah!

The information posted does specify new users, which doesn’t cover everyone I’d be contacted by, but maybe it still fixes it for existing users too? Please?

We had a number of reports of an issue of an impassable black screen on first start-up for new players. This has now been fixed.

For info, here are the ways I’ve known to fix rF2 failing to launch properly (for whatever reason):

1. Possible video settings issues. Delete the config_dx11.ini file.
2. Reinstall all four runtimes exe files found in the support folder (rF2 is in steam/steamapps/common).
3. Player file corruption? Reset player options by deleting the player folder. Backup your setups and replays first if you want to.
4. Antivirus false positive has removed a file? Replace the file and add the game directory as an exception.
5. Very old mod installed? It could be that a very old mod is breaking the software somehow. Unsubscribe from mods that haven’t been updated in a long time. You can do slightly more recent ones via the Steam Web site.
