As a direct ancestor of iRacing, the ‘Grand Prix Legends engine’ had multiple stock car racing false starts, before eventually releasing as NASCAR Racing 4. The original NASCAR 3, cancelled and replaced by one that used NASCAR 2’s engine, is barely remembered.
Shortly after the release of Grand Prix Legends the sim racing community looked forward to another title that promised to offer a similar insight into historic racing. Trans-Am Racing ’68-’72 ultimately never released, a victim of a publishers shady dealings, but as a part of my research I uncovered a VHS of a never-released trailer for the game. Watch the trailer and read about what sim racing missed out on.
On Tuesday Codemasters released Argolis, Greece for Dirt Rally 2.0. This is one of the most gruelling rally locations on any race calendar, Stages in Greece feature dusty roads and hidden rocks, capable of severely damaging cars that cut corners or run too wide in the wrong places. The dusty conditions mean visibility can become an issue for drivers further down the running order.
Stage Conditions (General):
Daytime / Clear / Dry Surface
Daytime / Overcast / Dry Surface
Sunset / Cloudy / Dry Surface
Sunset / Heavy Rain / Wet Surface
Dusk / Cloudy / Dry Surface
Night / Clear / Dry Surface
Stage Conditions (Time Trial):
Daytime / Clear / Dry Surface
Sunset / Heavy Rain / Wet Surface
I haven’t had chance to run it yet and see whether I think it’s worth $3.99, but there is certainly more expensive DLC out there.
