Better known today as the developer of Skyrim and Fallout, Bethesda once had a well-respected racing game franchise and were deep into development of a licensed Skip Barber Racing title that never released.

Video game development is full of names that have made groundbreaking steps you’ve never even heard about. Shawn Nash is a behind-the-scenes pioneer responsible for SODA Off Road Racing’s incredible physics, Papyrus’ graphical advancements and iRacing’s use of laser scan data for the physical track surfaces.

This interview with RSC, published in 2021, details his early life and career, through both his own company, Papyrus, Electronic Arts, to his time at iRacing.

Tim McArthur recently previewed the 2021 edition of his Setup Developer Tool, promising an all-new look, new profile and stats windows, new time format for lap time logger, new starting setup based on car/track selections, new track variables for unique track conditions, new graph for logged lap times and more descriptions, hints and information.

The software has been completely rewritten, and will be given at a deep discount to existing owners of SDT18. And if you just purchased SDT18 in the 2021 calendar year, you will be able to upgrade to SDT21 at no charge.

Full text from the update below:

I have been working on an update to the Setup Developer Tool in my free time over the winter. There were a couple things that I wanted to add to the app after gaining some knowledge in the coding department as well as hearing from some of the users of SDT18 over the years. The primary purpose of the re-write was to provide greater details to the user without making it more difficult to use.

Simpler look and easier to use
All in one profile, options, and user-stats window
Updated time format in the lap time logger (M:SS.xxx)
Lap logger now includes graph and a way to delete last lap
Now provides a basic starting setup based on car/track selections
New track variables for those unique track conditions
More descriptive questions and answers
Helpful hints that provide even more information on each topic
Free extras! The “Learn to setup your race car” eBook and the easy to use setup tuning flowcharts are included

As per usual, a deep discount will be offered to existing owners of SDT18. And if you just purchased SDT18 in the 2021 calendar year, you will be able to upgrade to SDT21 at no charge.
