Video game development is full of names that have made groundbreaking steps you’ve never even heard about. Shawn Nash is a behind-the-scenes pioneer responsible for SODA Off Road Racing’s incredible physics, Papyrus’ graphical advancements and iRacing’s use of laser scan data for the physical track surfaces.

This interview with RSC, published in 2021, details his early life and career, through both his own company, Papyrus, Electronic Arts, to his time at iRacing.

If you ever played Papyrus’ seminal Grand Prix Legends then you’ve read his name. Rich began working as a tester on NASCAR Racing (1994) and was with Papyrus at the end. In this interview, published in 2022, we discuss his time at the legendary studio and the design of Grand Prix Legends, including initial feelings of hurt at not being asked to join iRacing.

HDC has finally got another optimization patch that will hopefully improve the horrendous issues I had with it. I could tell immediately that the physics in this title are pretty impressive, and I sincerely hope this patch makes it what it should have been.

Major changes:

1. Optimization
The update brings performance optimizations – the game will run smoother and without stuttering.

2. Wheel Controllers & Game Pads
Force feedback on wheel controllers is here, finally, and we’d like to hear how the game plays for you with this change.

We have also fixed issues with Thrustmaster and Fanatec gear shifter support; added the possibility to navigate menus with the wheel; tweaked support for some gamepads (including PS4 pad) for better experience.

3. New Level & Progress
The game has a new level called Mountain Village, with three new sections. You will also notice some changes in game progress, order of levels, rewards, prices, etc. – especially if you start your game career from scratch.

4. Visual Update
We have enhanced the look of the game, and we think the changes not only add to the overall quality but give HDC a new vibe.

5. Bugfixes & Tweaks
We have done a bunch of fixes to the game plus tweaked some mechanics for better quality of life. A few known issues we’re still working on include an achievement bug some of you reported, which we’ll be including in an upcoming fix.
