Asobo, known today as the Microsoft Flight Simulator developer, created groundbreaking technology for large scale maps that was intended to be used in a high quality rally raid title. It was never released and ended up as FUEL, a post-apocalyptic open-world racing game. What happened?
Reiza Studios have released their 1.4.7.1 update and (today) 1.4.7.2 fixes along with a spectacular version of the 1971 Nurburgring that includes the Nordschleife (north loop), Sudschleife (south loop) and Gesamtstrecke (whole course) layouts. This is a spectacular effort, achievement and a real addition to sim racing. Reiza say that this was two years of work and as a fan of historic content I whole-heartedly approve! This 1971 release is now included in the previously released Nurburgring DLC already featuring the modern Nordschleife and Grand Prix layouts.
