As a direct ancestor of iRacing, the ‘Grand Prix Legends engine’ had multiple stock car racing false starts, before eventually releasing as NASCAR Racing 4. The original NASCAR 3, cancelled and replaced by one that used NASCAR 2’s engine, is barely remembered.
Better known today as the developer of Skyrim and Fallout, Bethesda once had a well-respected racing game franchise and were deep into development of a licensed Skip Barber Racing title that never released.
As a part of their February 2020 development update, Reiza Studios announced the release to crowdfunding backers a month ahead of the official product release on March 31, 2020. While careful to caution users that this is a BETA release, the driving feel might be representative of the quality we can expect from the title.
The first three months of content have been announced as follows:
March – Release.
April – Classic GP.
May – Hockenheim, 90’s DTM.
June – Mount Panorama, GT3, GT4.
July – Silverstone.
Each month should also see game updates and features added.
Pricing for the game has been announced; It will be $49.99. The title will be 20% off during the first week.
