If you ever played Papyrus’ seminal Grand Prix Legends then you’ve read his name. Rich began working as a tester on NASCAR Racing (1994) and was with Papyrus at the end. In this interview, published in 2022, we discuss his time at the legendary studio and the design of Grand Prix Legends, including initial feelings of hurt at not being asked to join iRacing.
Shortly after the release of Grand Prix Legends the sim racing community looked forward to another title that promised to offer a similar insight into historic racing. Trans-Am Racing ’68-’72 ultimately never released, a victim of a publishers shady dealings, but as a part of my research I uncovered a VHS of a never-released trailer for the game. Watch the trailer and read about what sim racing missed out on.
505 Games held their Assetto Corsa 2021 showcase media event this morning. Not much to take away from it for PC users that we didn’t expect, somewhat, but it’s still a good watch (see embed below).
Here are the bits of information given:
– BMW M4 GT3 coming most likely Q1 2022.
– New cars and tracks coming as DLC possibly Q1 2022.
– RTX support unlikely.
– DLSS likely “soon”.
– Private lobbies coming to ACC with consoles, NOT to PC.
What’s a little confusing is how often there appears to be crossover in comment and responses about Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione. For example they call ACC just “Assetto Corsa” a number of times and when talking about modding show footage of ACC which doesn’t support any. On consoles the next gen consoles (surely this is current gen now?) will get 60fps and be ‘enhanced’ for free if already owned. The mobile version of AC was also previewed.
