Better known today as the developer of Skyrim and Fallout, Bethesda once had a well-respected racing game franchise and were deep into development of a licensed Skip Barber Racing title that never released.
Video game development is full of names that have made groundbreaking steps you’ve never even heard about. Shawn Nash is a behind-the-scenes pioneer responsible for SODA Off Road Racing’s incredible physics, Papyrus’ graphical advancements and iRacing’s use of laser scan data for the physical track surfaces.
This interview with RSC, published in 2021, details his early life and career, through both his own company, Papyrus, Electronic Arts, to his time at iRacing.
In a series of tweets the past couple of weeks, some environmental screenshots have been posted of Over Jump Rally, a modernized clone of SEGA Rally.
The images, which I had assumed to be mostly useful for menu backgrounds or loading screens, ended in a final tweet with the words “I hope you have your quarters ready!” and images of a sign pointing towards arcade machines. I’m guessing the developer is still trying to get some collaboration from SEGA so that he can include emulators in the same way SEGA do themselves in the Yakuza franchise. Wouldn’t that be great?
The developer also recently noted that last year he joined Straight4 Studios to work on GTRevival.
