As a direct ancestor of iRacing, the ‘Grand Prix Legends engine’ had multiple stock car racing false starts, before eventually releasing as NASCAR Racing 4. The original NASCAR 3, cancelled and replaced by one that used NASCAR 2’s engine, is barely remembered.
Shortly after the release of Grand Prix Legends the sim racing community looked forward to another title that promised to offer a similar insight into historic racing. Trans-Am Racing ’68-’72 ultimately never released, a victim of a publishers shady dealings, but as a part of my research I uncovered a VHS of a never-released trailer for the game. In their investor earnings call last week Motorsport Games’ new CEO Stephen Hood stated that the 2022 season DLC for NASCAR Heat 5, originally announced for release in October last year, should be released within the “coming days”. The Q1 2023 Earnings Conference Call took place May 11, 2023 at 6:00 PM ET, and I waited a week to post this assuming I’d just be able to post about release.
Assuming everything is as-stated previously, the update should allow players to utilize the cars, drivers and teams from the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season in Race Now, Career Mode and Online Multiplayer in NASCAR Heat 5. There was also a social media message that stated significant sound upgrades are also included.
I never saw a NASCAR Heat 5-specific trailer (or indeed any preview images) for the 2022 update, but here is the one for NASCAR 21: Ignition which got it’s 2022 update shortly before NH5 was supposed to:
