As a direct ancestor of iRacing, the ‘Grand Prix Legends engine’ had multiple stock car racing false starts, before eventually releasing as NASCAR Racing 4. The original NASCAR 3, cancelled and replaced by one that used NASCAR 2’s engine, is barely remembered.
Better known today as the developer of Skyrim and Fallout, Bethesda once had a well-respected racing game franchise and were deep into development of a licensed Skip Barber Racing title that never released.
The Live For Speed developer today posted an update in their forum for users following their progress on Direct X 11. Here are the main bullet points of information:
– Eric has been working on South City (some screenshots below).
– Trees now move with wind.
– LFS has been updated to DX11, this has improved the framerate over DX9 even with no visual changes at this time.
– Some older GPUs will no longer be supported.
