Codemasters detailed three circuit updates for F1 22 yesterday that include the changes to new Australian track layout, re-profiled last half of the lap in Abu Dhabi and turn 10 updates in Spain. Honestly, it’s good to see them keep up with this at least, although you could argue it’s disappointing just how old some of the other track models are at this point, such as Spa.

There are four videos below, including a hotlap of Spain and then a trailer showing off the changes to each specific track layout. The press release is below them.

Spain, Australia, and Abu Dhabi Circuit Updates Encourage Improved Competition with More Chances to Overtake

May 19, 2022 – Today, Codemasters® and Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) announced EA SPORTS F1® 22 in-game updates to Spanish, Australian, and Abu Dhabi circuits, bringing them in line with their real-world counterparts. All improvements have been designed to promote greater competition as part of the new era of Formula 1®, with the introduction of new cars and regulations for the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship™. Check out the changes by downloading the asset pack Here

Spain

Turn 10 sees a new layout matching those introduced in real life for the postponed 2021 race. Turns 10-14 have updated offtrack areas, alongside several sausage kerbs around the circuit

Australia

The Albert Park Circuit has been remodelled using LIDAR data, boasting more detailed height and camber. Outfield areas see walls repositioned, and kerbs replaced with new photogrammetry versions. There are multiple changes to the circuit with a new layout to turns 1, 3, 6, 8/9 (replacing the chicane), 11, 12, and 13

Abu Dhabi

Yas Marina’s turn 5, where Verstappen overtook Hamilton to secure the 2021 Formula One World Championship™, has changed with the chicane removed before the hairpin. The hairpin has also come forward adding more runoff. The turn 9 chicane and 90-degree turns are now a single cambered turn, replacing turns 11-14. Lastly, turns 13-15 have been rounded off around the hotel to allow cars to follow more closely.
