Video game development is rarely about one man, but if it was, then Terence Groening should certainly get a mention for his contributions to the genre as the man responsible for the physics of Sportscar GT, EA’s PC F1 and NASCAR games of the early 2000’s, rFactor, rFactor 2 and every title and rFpro simulator that spawned from ISI’s engine.
This interview with RSC details his early life and career, through to him joining iRacing in 2021.

Well, this sucks. Yet again we see EA purchase a productive studio and after killing everything that was good about it, halting development on a racing franchise. At this rate, they’ll somehow end up making F1 not profitable enough as well.
The team who began many, many years ago on the Colin McRae rally series, DiRT series, DiRT Rally franchise before moving over to use an official WRC license for the first time with EA Sports WRC, somehow suddenly can’t make a profitable enough game for EA.
The statement below, posted today on official outlets, clearly states the team are “pausing development plans on future rally titles”, and no doubt layoffs will follow.
Dear Rally Community,
Every great journey eventually finds its finish line, and today, we announce that we’ve reached the end of the road working on WRC.
After releasing EA SPORTS WRC in 2023, the 2024 season, including the recently released Hard Chargers Content pack, will be our last expansion.
For now, we are pausing development plans on future rally titles. Rest assured, EA SPORTS WRC will continue to be available for existing and new players. We hope it remains a source of joy, excitement, and the thrill of rally racing. We’ve poured our hearts into making it for fans, and we know you’ll keep the passion alive.
Our WRC partnership was a culmination of sorts for our Codemasters journey with off-road racing, spanning decades through titles like Colin McRae Rally, and DiRT. We’ve provided a home for every rally enthusiast, striving tirelessly to push the boundaries and deliver the exhilarating thrill of driving on the ragged edge. We’ve brought together incredibly talented racing developers, worked with some of the sport’s icons, and had the opportunity to share our love of rallying.
Thank you to all the fans who have and continue to be part of our rally journey.

Running on Windows 10 Install the 1.09 patch then the SilentPatch. The SilentPatch fixes basically everything that was wrong with CMR2 on Windows 10. I have archived it here incase that site ever disappears.
DR2 is a racing video game developed and published by Codemasters featuring a mixture of Rally and Rallycross content from both historic and modern era.
The game may be considered the thirteenth title in the Colin McRae Rally series, and is the seventh title to carry the Dirt name. The publisher confusingly released DiRT Rally, DiRT 4 then Dirt Rally 2.0 all with a similar concept and content between 2015 and 2019.
EA SPORTS first WRC title, developed by Codemasters and the DiRT Rally team.
The 2024 season addon for EA Sports WRC was available as a separate DLC for those who purchased EA Sports WRC. For those who purchased after its release, it was bundled with the 2023 content.
