As a direct ancestor of iRacing, the ‘Grand Prix Legends engine’ had multiple stock car racing false starts, before eventually releasing as NASCAR Racing 4. The original NASCAR 3, cancelled and replaced by one that used NASCAR 2’s engine, is barely remembered.
Shortly after the release of Grand Prix Legends the sim racing community looked forward to another title that promised to offer a similar insight into historic racing. Trans-Am Racing ’68-’72 ultimately never released, a victim of a publishers shady dealings, but as a part of my research I uncovered a VHS of a never-released trailer for the game. Watch the trailer and read about what sim racing missed out on.

Though it has been removed from the current post version on the Formula One Web site, it can be clearly seen on archive.org’s cache of what was originally written that Sauber’s C43 is possibly being released for F1 22 later this month.
The original text read:
Alfa Romeo’s new car is set to hit the track for a shakedown session in Barcelona this week, before heading to Bahrain for pre-season testing from February 23-25, followed by the 2023 opener at the Sakhir venue a week later.
In a world first, the C43 is also set to be added to the official F1 2022 video game on the eve of the Bahrain test, allowing fans to virtually test it out for themselves.
That last paragraph has now been removed from the article…
