They also recently released driver ratings, which I don’t think actually matter as much as hidden ratings will (which gives an ability to change/improve). I’m guessing, but it’s possible someone like Vettel may have a lower rating initially, but may have the potential to be much higher because of his history… Same with Alonso.
Press release:
Dive behind the data as F1 Manager 2022 reveals starting driver and key staff ratings
Budding Team Principals get the low-down on 2022’s hottest talents, as Frontier unveils ratings with a deep dive into the data.Cambridge, UK – July 19, 2022 Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV, ‘Frontier’) today revealed the starting driver and key staff ratings for F1® Manager 2022, the major new officially licenced F1® management simulation game, launching on August 30 (August 25 for players who pre-order*) on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation® 5, Xbox One, PlayStation® 4, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Authenticity is key in F1® Manager 2022, and the driver ratings are no exception. Working closely with Formula One®, each individual driver’s overall rating is influenced by a combination of nine performance ratings, all determined by real racing data. Each performance rating is calculated using multiple information points, creating a data driven rating that encompasses previous performances, up to and including the 2022 season so far. As players, and their drivers, progress through the season these ratings will adapt to reflect their development as they build experience throughout their career.
Starting performance ratings are split into three sections, each containing three individual attribute ratings; ‘Pace’ ratings influence the driver’s raw speed, covering Cornering, Braking and Reactions, ‘Consistency’ stats such as Accuracy, Control and Smoothness largely reduce the likelihood of driver errors. Finally, ‘Racecraft’ ratings allow drivers to adapt to changing conditions, these ratings include Adaptability, Overtaking and Defending.
In addition, each driver has their own Aggression value which determines how likely they are to attempt an overtaking manoeuvre, even at the risk of a racing incident. As well as Growth Potential, which highlights how likely their skills are to develop in future. Players can explore each of these performance ratings in detail on the F1® Manager 2022 official website, and hear more from the team in a live stream broadcast on Twitch at 16:00 BST tomorrow (20th July).
However, victory isn’t just down to the drivers. Central to a team’s success, are the key staff members working both trackside and back at headquarters in order to unleash the potential of the car. Similarly to drivers, each key staff member has their own starting performance ratings, which are unique to each role, and these ratings will change as their experience level increases.
As the name suggests, these ratings are just a starting point. Team Principals can take direct control of how their drivers and staff develop, allocating development points to each performance rating as they gain experience. Every driver and staff member will develop and improve their skills at varying speeds. Just like the real world of F1®, there will be breakthrough stars, veterans reaching the twilight of their careers, and all kinds of dynamic nuances resulting in those ratings changing throughout the seasons.
An additional influence for Team Principals to consider is the role of the headquarters. A well-maintained, state-of-the-art set of facilities allows a team to develop improved components, build experience faster and even boosts their individual morale.
Prospective Team Principals will have all the data at their fingertips as they prepare to build their own legacy in Formula 1®, when F1® Manager 2022 launches on August 30 on PC, PlayStation® 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation® 4 and Xbox One for a suggested retail price of £44.99/$54.99/€54.99.
Players looking to get ahead of the grid are able to pre-order the game digitally and experience F1® Manager 2022 a full five days early from August 25*. The game is also available in physical format for PlayStation® 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation® 4 and Xbox One for a suggested retail price of £44.99/$54.99/€54.99.
*Early access and discount is exclusively available to those pre-ordering digitally. On PlayStation platforms, players must be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to receive the 10% pre-order discount.
