Frontier, a company I adore as a fan of Elite, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Planet Coaster and more, released more information on their upcoming F1 Manager 22 release today via ‘RacingGames.gg‘. Check out the video below, but I would avoid the site as it’s difficult to follow the article due to the number of ads, video ads that automatically play, etc. It triggers my 90’s popup flashbacks.

I’m a little “meh” about the video as well. It doesn’t contain any information that honestly wasn’t expected in a title of this kind, and there’s more time spent summarizing what I think most people would already know than previewing the game. But who knows? Maybe it’s the first in a series…

It is 8:31 in length, here is a summary:
– The interview/info starts at 1:20.
– Wireframe of car and model shown at 2:36.
– Baku circuit model shown at 3:27.
– Face scan models shown at 3:52.
– Motion capture shown at 3:58.
– Confirmation you will vote on regulation changes at 5:15.
– Will have real F1, F2, and F3 drivers for hiring at 5:28.

As far as new information, it’s nice to have confirmation of a real pool drivers from F1 and it’s feeder series. It would be nice if they could get a few recent F1 drivers and at least lookalikes from other series’ as well, such as Grosjean. Until recently Magnussen wouldn’t have been included, and it would have been silly to not have a driver who ends up driving, right?

The Baku model, it’s hard to know, but I wonder whether they are using Codemasters assets in any way.

The car model, face models, they look good. I do hope we will see a good variation of aero parts and adjustments, as well as realistic depictions of the 2022 cars in the game.
