As a direct ancestor of iRacing, the ‘Grand Prix Legends engine’ had multiple stock car racing false starts, before eventually releasing as NASCAR Racing 4. The original NASCAR 3, cancelled and replaced by one that used NASCAR 2’s engine, is barely remembered.
Shortly after the release of Grand Prix Legends the sim racing community looked forward to another title that promised to offer a similar insight into historic racing. Trans-Am Racing ’68-’72 ultimately never released, a victim of a publishers shady dealings, but as a part of my research I uncovered a VHS of a never-released trailer for the game. Watch the trailer and read about what sim racing missed out on.
Kylotonn today released their January update for WRC 10. This is earlier in the month than most people expected, so that’s nice, but it does bring quite a lot of disappointment…
Sadly the roadmap-promised “Online Multiplayer Championship” that was added in this update is nothing more than a renamed “eSports WRC Championship”, so those of you who were expecting to be able to setup an online competitions where you and others could compete in the same way DiRT Rally 2.0 supports are not going to like this one. I’m sad about this because, honestly, what else does “online multiplayer championship” sound like when you have terms like eSports available to use instead? Sigh. Check out the eSports Web site here, if interested.
