After spending the last few days counting to 10 (from 4, as WRC 1-3 were made by Milestone), Kylotonn and parent company Nacon today announced more information on their upcoming World Rally Championship 10 title. Full text of the press announcement is below the screenshots and trailer, but here are the main nuggets of information taken from tweets, the trailer and the release itself:
– Release date September 2, 2021.
– Unlike the previous two titles, WRC 10 is not set to be exclusive to the Epic Games store for one year and instead can be wishlisted right now on Steam.
– 120 special stages.
– 2021 rallies and cars, including four new: Estonia, Croatia, Belgium and Spain.
– 52 official teams from the 2021 season (WRC, WRC2, WRC3, Junior WRC).
– 20 iconic WRC cars will be available from Alpine, Audi, Lancia, Ford, Mitsubishi, Toyota and Subaru.
– Historic Mode will allow you to re-live 19 events that have shaped the history of the Championship since 1973 through 6 historic rallies, including Acropolis, San Remo, Germany and Argentina.
– Career mode has a new livery editor and your own Team. You can now skin your cars and compete alongside the 52 official teams of the 2021 season.
– Physics (which I rate pretty highly already) are said to be improved and more realistic, including aerodynamic forces, turbos and braking on all surfaces.
– Many audio improvements.
Personally I have rated WRC 8 and 9 pretty highly. With each year they have really moved forward and it’s quite a shame they’ve only got another couple of titles before their WRC license expires (WRC 11 already announced). Literally the only negative I can pull from all the information today is that the glass windows and rear lights on the cars are incorrectly displaying infront of the smoke/dust they should be behind. It’s normal in development to fix that late, but because I know it will get noticed I figured I should mention it first. Hopefully they fix that, because I am extremely impressed by what they’ve set out to create in WRC 10.
