Video game development is rarely about one man, but if it was, then Terence Groening should certainly get a mention for his contributions to the genre as the man responsible for the physics of Sportscar GT, EA’s PC F1 and NASCAR games of the early 2000’s, rFactor, rFactor 2 and every title and rFpro simulator that spawned from ISI’s engine.
This interview with RSC details his early life and career, through to him joining iRacing in 2021.
Better known today as the developer of Skyrim and Fallout, Bethesda once had a well-respected racing game franchise and were deep into development of a licensed Skip Barber Racing title that never released.
Monster Games have today released an update for their console-based World of Outlaws title that readies release for a couple of DLC items and brings a number of fixes for the software. Unfortunately there are no public release notes that I can find (I did ask them), but here is what was mentioned by Steve Myers (of iRacing) on Twitter:
– More selectable (I assume licensed) drivers in Late Model, Pro Late Model, and 360 series
– PS4 Pro maintains a more consistent frame rate
– Driver videos can now be skipped by pressing the X button on PS4/PS5 or A button on Xbox
– Fix issue allowing race to end under yellow flag
– Add support for upcoming content (DIRTcar UMP Modified DLC and Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 DLC)
– Other minor improvements and fixes
The new DLC content is expected to release October 28, 2022.
