Shortly after the release of Grand Prix Legends the sim racing community looked forward to another title that promised to offer a similar insight into historic racing. Trans-Am Racing ’68-’72 ultimately never released, a victim of a publishers shady dealings, but as a part of my research I uncovered a VHS of a never-released trailer for the game. Watch the trailer and read about what sim racing missed out on.
Better known today as the developer of Skyrim and Fallout, Bethesda once had a well-respected racing game franchise and were deep into development of a licensed Skip Barber Racing title that never released.
There’s no secret that Embracer have been trying to figure out their finances for a while. In the meantime, one of their healthiest developers (for driving games, at least) figured out a way to free itself from the situation by securing $500m in funding from investors and effectively buying itself back from Embracer Group.
My understanding here is that Saber Interactive now becomes a privately-held company, free of stock holder influence, and that both SnowRunner and Expeditions: A MudRunner Game are safe. I’m yet to see evidence that Saber Porto, formerly known as Bigmoon Entertainment, were a part of the deal. I hope so, though, as that would mean the Dakar franchise is also safely moved elsewhere.
