As a direct ancestor of iRacing, the ‘Grand Prix Legends engine’ had multiple stock car racing false starts, before eventually releasing as NASCAR Racing 4. The original NASCAR 3, cancelled and replaced by one that used NASCAR 2’s engine, is barely remembered.
Shortly after the release of Grand Prix Legends the sim racing community looked forward to another title that promised to offer a similar insight into historic racing. Trans-Am Racing ’68-’72 ultimately never released, a victim of a publishers shady dealings, but as a part of my research I uncovered a VHS of a never-released trailer for the game. Watch the trailer and read about what sim racing missed out on.
Saber Interactive’s support twitter has shared a link showing the issues Saber Porto are aware of and attempting to fix. Thankfully, it does include most of the issues I have seen others reported, and people will soon be able to get the enjoyment out of the title that I have (check out my review).
Issues they are aware of, have reproduced, and are working on fixing:
– Progress and save files can be reset unintentionally
– Additional Wheel and Force Feedback support for various devices
– Frame rate drops and freezes during auto-saves when going over waypoints
– The helicopter may appear behind the player at the start of the game
– A player may spectate their team when the car was already destroyed
– The spectator camera may get placed under the textures and doesn’t switch between users after finishing the race
– Counter steering is not working properly on some vehicles
– Some countries are unintentionally not represented in player profiles
Issues they are aware of and investigating:
– High-end video cards may experience frame drops
– Console owners may be experiencing frame drops using performance mode
– Some players are experiencing crashes and fatal errors
