Shortly after the release of Grand Prix Legends the sim racing community looked forward to another title that promised to offer a similar insight into historic racing. Trans-Am Racing ’68-’72 ultimately never released, a victim of a publishers shady dealings, but as a part of my research I uncovered a VHS of a never-released trailer for the game. Watch the trailer and read about what sim racing missed out on.
As a direct ancestor of iRacing, the ‘Grand Prix Legends engine’ had multiple stock car racing false starts, before eventually releasing as NASCAR Racing 4. The original NASCAR 3, cancelled and replaced by one that used NASCAR 2’s engine, is barely remembered.
EA have added F1 2021 to the GeForce NOW Streaming Service after presumably being shocked that revenue went down after they removed F1 2011, F1 2012, F1 2014, F1 2015, F1 2016, F1 2017, F1 2018, F1 2019 and F1 2020 from stores in the past two years. GeForce NOW is free to try for sessions up to 1hr in length.
I did enjoy F1 2021, but felt that F1 2020 was the better title overall. The ‘Braking Point’ storyline in F1 2021 is worth a playthrough. You can probably use the free trial for that. Here is my review of the game.
