Video game development is full of names that have made groundbreaking steps you’ve never even heard about. Shawn Nash is a behind-the-scenes pioneer responsible for SODA Off Road Racing’s incredible physics, Papyrus’ graphical advancements and iRacing’s use of laser scan data for the physical track surfaces.
This interview with RSC, published in 2021, details his early life and career, through both his own company, Papyrus, Electronic Arts, to his time at iRacing.
As a direct ancestor of iRacing, the ‘Grand Prix Legends engine’ had multiple stock car racing false starts, before eventually releasing as NASCAR Racing 4. The original NASCAR 3, cancelled and replaced by one that used NASCAR 2’s engine, is barely remembered.
Though this looks a little limited in most ways, it’s possibly worth a profile and news entry if only to see where this studio goes next. It’s obvious they do have some love for racing with a bunch of lookalike racing venues and vehicles that many will recognize.

Classic Racers Elite is a pure time-attack racing game set in the golden age of the 60s rally car racing era. At its core, it’s a hill climb racing game where the goal is simple; you’re at the bottom of the hill and, like in rally, you must get to the top as fast as possible.
The new “Elite” version introduces time attack modes on race tracks, encompassing the full scope of vintage driving.
Classic Racers Elite is a racing game that challenges the genre with a pure, no-nonsense, traditional racing approach of the era. No car customisation (except for car livery), no car setup tuning, no social features, no open worlds. Just back to basics racing with the simple goal of having fun!
Relive the feeling of beating the best times on the cross-platform, global leaderboards of the many tracks available and secure your place in rally greatness.
SimCade physic engine creates authentic car handling but with a straght forward approach to player controls.
