Better known today as the developer of Skyrim and Fallout, Bethesda once had a well-respected racing game franchise and were deep into development of a licensed Skip Barber Racing title that never released.

Motorsims today announced that their first title, AMA Superbike, will be displayed during Bike Week at Daytona. We will see a multiplayer event to showcase the title.

Racing Simulation Company To Demo New AMA Superbike Computer Game At AMA’s Season Opening Round In Daytona Beach, FloridaLas Colinas, TX (Feb. 22, 1999) — Motorsport Simulations (Motorsims) today announced that the company’s first title – AMA Superbike – will make its debut at Bike Week, the annual motorcyclist gathering at Daytona Beach in Daytona, FL. Motorsims plan a special media reception for the game at the week-long festival of motorcycle events and entertainments, which draws over 300,000 motorcycle enthusiasts annually. A number of leading AMA riders – including broadcaster, analyst and former AMA Champion David Sadowski – will race against each other in computer competition to highlight Motorsport Simulations plans to offer gamers the best in authentic simulation and online multiplayer racing.

Motorsims was founded by Internet gaming veteran Bob McCarthy to offer racing enthusiasts state-of-the-art simulation games and online competition in a number of popular racing categories. The company has partnered with a number of leading motorsport personalities, broadcasters, racers and sanctioning bodies, including the AMA and the Sports Car Club of America. The AMA is the largest motorcycle racing sanctioning body in the world with more than 80 national-level racing events all over the United States. Motorsport Simulations will develop and publish computer games based on a number of AMA sanctioned properties, including AMA National Motocross, AMA Grand National Dirt Track Racing and AMA Superbike.
Motorsport Simulations plans to release the Internet version of AMA Superbike, the first AMA licensed title, in the spring of 1999. This and subsequent games will be available as a standalone retail product, in addition to being playable online via Motorsport Simulations exclusive Internet racing community. This community will be built upon Motorsport Simulations’ proprietary client server technology that can manage multiple racing arenas simultaneously.
Company founder Bob McCarthy was the chairman of Interactive Creations, the developer and publisher of the popular online aviation simulation Warbirds, and prior to that was a founder of Concentric Networks, a company that provides Internet Protocol-based network services for businesses and consumers. With his background, McCarthy brings to Motorsport Simulations a wealth of experience and understanding of simulations and the online gaming market.
