If you ever played Papyrus’ seminal Grand Prix Legends then you’ve read his name. Rich began working as a tester on NASCAR Racing (1994) and was with Papyrus at the end. In this interview, published in 2022, we discuss his time at the legendary studio and the design of Grand Prix Legends, including initial feelings of hurt at not being asked to join iRacing.

As a direct ancestor of iRacing, the ‘Grand Prix Legends engine’ had multiple stock car racing false starts, before eventually releasing as NASCAR Racing 4. The original NASCAR 3, cancelled and replaced by one that used NASCAR 2’s engine, is barely remembered.

Saber Porto have today released v1.5 of their Dakar Desert Rally title, and launched the title for the first time in the Epic Store.

This update should fix some of the users still having controller issues, fix the navigator appearing ‘late’ on giving instructions and implements DLSS 3, among other fixes and tweaks. You can read my review of the title here (note that I didn’t have any controller issues).

Changes:

– Implemented Steering Wheel Angle detection
– Improve Navigator speed and accuracy
– Implemented crossplay between Steam and Epic Games Store
– Implemented DLSS 3
– Removed the “Top 8” rule from the Professional and Simulation game modes
– 14 new Sport and Professional events (35 New Stages), using the DLC “Saudi Arabia Extended Map” map
