Shortly after the release of Grand Prix Legends the sim racing community looked forward to another title that promised to offer a similar insight into historic racing. Trans-Am Racing ’68-’72 ultimately never released, a victim of a publishers shady dealings, but as a part of my research I uncovered a VHS of a never-released trailer for the game. Asobo, known today as the Microsoft Flight Simulator developer, created groundbreaking technology for large scale maps that was intended to be used in a high quality rally raid title. It was never released and ended up as FUEL, a post-apocalyptic open-world racing game. What happened?
Frontier posted a new trailer/feature for their upcoming F1 Management title yesterday that includes some information on recruiting staff and drivers for your dream F1 team. It looks quite in-depth, but does have at least one missing aspect that is signing drivers before their current contract has expired. It seems all hiring in this game will be instant, as you always seem to have to buy out existing (current) contracts. I guess I don’t understand why I can’t hire a driver to start next season or the season after as is often seen in the real world.
