Video game development is rarely about one man, but if it was, then Terence Groening should certainly get a mention for his contributions to the genre as the man responsible for the physics of Sportscar GT, EA’s PC F1 and NASCAR games of the early 2000’s, rFactor, rFactor 2 and every title and rFpro simulator that spawned from ISI’s engine.
This interview with RSC details his early life and career, through to him joining iRacing in 2021.
Better known today as the developer of Skyrim and Fallout, Bethesda once had a well-respected racing game franchise and were deep into development of a licensed Skip Barber Racing title that never released.
Milestone have posted a very nice trailer that shows off the features from their upcoming RIDE 5 release. This was most likely first shown off to media at their official launch event yesterday, and honestly I think they’ve done a superb job with it. Hoping that the game itself lives up to the hype people are feeling for it, because this feature list is actually pretty amazing.
Here are each of the features touched on within the trailer:
– Bike looks (customization and general quality), physics (suspension, tires, etc) and fine tuning available via new UI
– Dynamic weather and sky, track temperature model
– AI opponents with adaptive AI, riding aids like slow motion gameplay
– Career with tutorial, qualifying, endurance racing, AI rivals, massive event library and base building
– Race creator mode allows you to setup your own single races and championships
– Multiplayer split screen and global online
