Asobo, known today as the Microsoft Flight Simulator developer, created groundbreaking technology for large scale maps that was intended to be used in a high quality rally raid title. It was never released and ended up as FUEL, a post-apocalyptic open-world racing game. What happened?
No longer using manufacturer body panels, Gen-4 (1992-2006) cars were designed in the wind tunnel to fit a template and used more exotic materials.
Though based off production models from Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford and Pontiac, the cars were very similar between manufacturers and towards the end looked nothing like their road-going namesakes.

iRacing Studios have shown a significant amount of gameplay for the first time in a Developer Update promo video (embed below) featuring interviews with various stock car drivers. While it is framed as a developer update featuring feedback from real drivers, the video itself feels a little uncomfortable as it loops through repeated praise, retrospective or excitement loops, making what each person says feel a little bit redundant and perhaps too flat.
We’re about two months out from release, and while I fully expect them to ramp up their efforts over the next few weeks it is a bit disappointing to see NASCAR 25 getting a very quiet campaign so far. I want to be excited, and right now I don’t have enough information to be.
