Video game development is rarely about one man, but if it was, then Terence Groening should certainly get a mention for his contributions to the genre as the man responsible for the physics of Sportscar GT, EA’s PC F1 and NASCAR games of the early 2000’s, rFactor, rFactor 2 and every title and rFpro simulator that spawned from ISI’s engine.

This interview with RSC details his early life and career, through to him joining iRacing in 2021.

As a direct ancestor of iRacing, the ‘Grand Prix Legends engine’ had multiple stock car racing false starts, before eventually releasing as NASCAR Racing 4. The original NASCAR 3, cancelled and replaced by one that used NASCAR 2’s engine, is barely remembered.

Studio 397 have released a hotfix for patch two and new patch (3) for Le Mans Ultimate. The update has an array of fixes and tweaks and shows more genuine progress from the developer, including changes to address software crashes, adding a max framerate setting, visual rain effect improvements and more. Notably absent is support for VR, which was promised to be released at some point in an update, but hasn’t yet appeared.

The developer is also aware that some users are experiencing FFB issues and has asked anyone with the issue to try the ffb-pub steam beta branch and report success or failure in their Discord.

They've put so much work into this now. Hope it continued to pay off and that the people still there, who can obviously get things done, get to bring it to full release.

Instead of crash to desktop, it only crashes the session with a warning when I first join a multiplayer session. FFB got a little bit less direct and not so snappy on a belt-driven wheelbase than before. But it's still better than the competition; playing ACC after LMU feels just wrong.
