Video game development is rarely about one man, but if it was, then Terence Groening should certainly get a mention for his contributions to the genre as the man responsible for the physics of Sportscar GT, EA’s PC F1 and NASCAR games of the early 2000’s, rFactor, rFactor 2 and every title and rFpro simulator that spawned from ISI’s engine.

This interview with RSC details his early life and career, through to him joining iRacing in 2021.

Shortly after the release of Grand Prix Legends the sim racing community looked forward to another title that promised to offer a similar insight into historic racing. Trans-Am Racing ’68-’72 ultimately never released, a victim of a publishers shady dealings, but as a part of my research I uncovered a VHS of a never-released trailer for the game. Kunos have had a busy week! Assetto Corsa Competizione received an update and new DLC pack, a new Web site was launched for the franchise and they hit a peak of 9400 users on patch release. The 2023 GT World Challenge Pack DLC added the Ferrari 296 GT3, Porsche 911 (992) GT3 R, Lamborghini Huracàn EVO2 and Circuit Ricardo Tormo – Valencia track, but most notable to users is the fact that the v1.9 patch offers significant positive changes to the tire model, suspension and aero, offering users much improved feel of what the car is doing on the race track. The cars were all previewed prior to release, but the track had to wait until Monday to receive a walkthrough video (that is worth watching, by the way).

Build notes:

GENERAL:
– Added Circuit Valencia Ricardo Tormo as DLC content.
– Added new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 as DLC content.

The new content can be accessed via the Open Series for the time being. A dedicated season will be added when the season content is complete.

– Fixed track selection not respecting user-defined order in Open Series championship mode.
